Surviving the Holidays (When you are Grieving)

GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. Please join us on November 21 from 6-8 PM at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Liberty. This event is absolutely free. The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. These people share honestly about: • Being prepared for surprising emotions that may hit over the holidays • What to do about traditions and other coming changes • How to handle holiday parties and invitations • How to survive potentially awkward moments with other people • Where to find comfort, strength, and hope in a seemingly hopeless time Those who attend will receive a Survival Guide filled with practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season. Jimmie's band has opened for artists like Willie Nelson, The Doobie Brothers, Marshall Tucker & Matt Mason. Jimmie will share concepts from his book, "Don't take your dreams to the grave". You will hear his story, learn how he uses social media to build his ministry & music. Network with christian business leaders from around the city at the Islamorada Fish Company at Bass Pro on Friday November 22 from 3:00 pm-5:o0 pm. Admission is free. Fusion Equip | Topic - Discipling

The goal of Fusion Equip is to inspire and mobilize high school and college aged students for a lifetime of disciple making. The topic for the November 22nd evening will be Discipling. There will be hands-on elements and experiences as well as a training time devoted to leading your disciple(s). While this will be structured for high school and college students, all are welcome! Church groups are welcome. Please consider bringing a crew and joining us for this evening! Register by November 20, 2019. We hope to be a resource to you, making this event completely free. Lighted Christmas Parade - Excelsior Springs

5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Kickoff the Christmas season in Excelsior Springs with T.J. and Melony from the Life 88.5 morning show as they emcee the lighted Christmas parade and Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting. The day will also feature the Elf Factory, allowing children to create crafts for a small fee and wrap them as gifts. Santa will be in town for photos and will return again for Breakfast with Santa in December. Hundreds visit the Hall of Waters for the opening of the Hall of Trees. Over 30 Christmas trees uniquely decorated by businesses, civic groups and churches are presented in the Hall solarium and remain throughout December. Christmas cookies, served from the world’s largest water bar, are enjoyed during the event. In addition, the Lane of Lights opens in East Valley Park on Lover’s Lane creating an enchanting drive. The Lane will also be open through December for families to enjoy throughout the holidays. Kansas City Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting

Come enjoy one of Kansas City's most iconic Christmas events with Life 88.5! Crown Center host the Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday November 29 beginning at 5:30 pm. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas will flip the switch and light more than 48,000 lights around Crown Center, including the tree. The Mayor's Christmas tree was named one of "10 travel-worthy Christmas trees across the USA" by the USA Today last year. Spin the Life 88.5 birthday wheel for your chance to win a Life 88.5 not so ugly Christmas t-shirt (while supplies last) and other prizes. Fireworks will conclude the evening following the lighting of the tree!

On Eagle's Wings Farm Gala Night

A benefit gala raises funds toward meeting the needs of foster, orphaned and at-risk children. The evening will include a heavy hors d'oeuvres, a Silent Auction and live entertainment. On Eagle’s Wings Farm is a new outreach branch of Carry the Cross Ministries, which has been serving homeless families and the surrounding community in the Kansas City, Kansas area for the past 14 years. Seeing the need, On Eagle's Wings Farm is working to provide a place of refuge and hope for foster, orphaned, at-risk children and their families. The vision of the farm is to provide shelter, a loving Christian family environment, therapy, life-skills training, and transitional living in order to equip children and young adults with the skills that they will need to be able to find success out in the world.
