Wave of Light a Pregnancy, Infant & Child Loss Candlelight Ceremony in Lawrence, KS

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Insight Women’s Center in Lawrence is hosting a region wide candle lighting ceremony on Tuesday, October 15th at Christ Community Church, 1100 Kasold Drive in Lawrence, for those who have experienced pregnancy, infant, and child loss. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the ceremony starting at 7:00. Refreshments will be provided. For more information contact Insight Women’s Center at 785-842-6499. This event is in conjunction with a Global Wave of Light. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed October as Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness month. Years later, in 2006, October 15th was proclaimed as the National Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day. All over the world parents light a candle at 7:00 pm in their time zones to create a "wave of light" around the world in memory of babies lost to pregnancy and infant loss.

Holiday Mart is the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri’s largest fundraiser. This upscale shopping extravaganza has been a fall tradition for thirty years and is an extra special destination event. With over 200 specialty retailers and more than 20,000 shoppers, the proceeds from Holiday Mart support community projects sponsored by JLKCMO. Since it began in 1988, Holiday Mart has helped to raise nearly $11 million for Kansas City community projects and the Junior League’s mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community.
