At Food for the Cure our mission is to create programs that teach people how organic food may improve our health and to give free organic food to cancer patients in the Kansas City Metro Area. We are trying to fill a giant gap in our food system when it comes to affordability of healthy organic foods and getting them in the hands of those who need them most. All this to help fight cancer with organic foods along with the cancer patients’ treatments at no cost to them. Food for the Cure was created to honor our founder’s mother, Brenda Fitzgerald, who couldn’t afford eating healthy organic foods while in treatment with her cancer. She unfortunately made too much money to qualify for assistance and that’s why here at Food for the Cure the only thing you need to qualify is to be a cancer patient in the Kansas City Metro Area (KS & MO). With this comes big responsibility and Food for the Cure is up to the challenge! With the help of our great communities in the Metro we will use all the donated money to further expand our growing capabilities to feed as many cancer patients as we can. One day we hope we will be large enough to give every cancer patient in our area the much-needed organic food that they need to nourish their bodies as the fight for their life against cancer.
