You never forget how to use an Etch A Sketch. The simplicity of just two dials is refreshing.  It’s fueled by metal shavings and a modest magnet. No batteries needed. Stop counting the required bytes. But what’s best about the Etch A Sketch is that you can shake it once real hard, and all the mess is erased. It simply disappears.

The simplicity of the magnetic Etch A Sketch reminds me of the simplicity of the magnetic message of salvation. Not only does Jesus save us from spiritual death, but He also saves us from the fear of death.  1 Corinthians 15:54 confirms:

“Death is swallowed by triumphant Life! Who got the last word, oh, Death? Who’s afraid of you now?”

When I was younger, the thought of death was haunting. But God has slowly helped me to fully grasp death’s defeat by Christ and something amazing has happened. I’m no longer afraid. Fear has been replaced by peace and I can truly say the fear of death has been swallowed by Life!

Know that you’re not alone if you are fearful or anxious, but also know you can trust your Savior. When fear of death threatens your thoughts, look to Jesus. Give those fears to the One who looked Death eye to eye and delivere the knockout punch!
