“I think what’s really healing is when a woman sees a man use strength for something virtuous.”
God created men to be warriors, but sin corrupts that strength and turns it for sinful purposes. Craig Groeschel calls men to step up and into their roles as leaders in his book, .
“So many women have been hurt significantly by men, which is so tragic – verbal abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse. You can understand even why sometimes this language of calling a guy a ‘warrior’ might make some women uncomfortable. They’ve been hurt by strength gone bad.”
How can men step into their calling and honor the others around them? What do they need to know?
“God has called you to more than just walking away. In society today, we don’t have a lot of examples. I think we’re fighting for the wrong things – we’re fighting for ourselves, or we’re fighting for promotion, we’re fighting for the material things. And then when a marriage gets tough a lot of times men just walk away; they give up.”
“Men often hand the kids off to the woman and are not as involved. Then we’ve got men who even call themselves Christians, who are not standing up for righteousness in the workplace; they’re not being a light of influence where they are.”
Craig has a message for men.
“God put more in you.”
Look at Jesus and follow His example. No one can call Jesus a passive man.
Jesus was full of love and mercy and grace. He also was willing to draw a line in the sand and say, “I’m going to stand up for what’s right. You can’t go there. You can’t do this on My watch.”
“He’d stand the Pharisees down, or topple tables in the temple whenever money changers were perverting the use of God’s house – it should’ve been a place of worship.”
Craig hopes his message will light a fire.
“I’m hoping that it will really empower men to rise up, man up, be men of God and say, ‘There are some things worth fighting for, and by God’s power, these are fights that we are going to win.’”
