How can prioritize when so many things are putting themselves in front of us?
What can only I do?
There are some things that only you can do in your life.
“Only I can develop my faith in the Lord. Only I can be my husband’s wife. I’m the only mother my children have. I’m the only one who can get myself to the gym. I’m the only one who can control what food gets put into my body.”
What has God entrusted to me?
“We all have something. No matter how humble or grand it is…We have a home. We have productive work. We have a certain amount of finances. We have a certain amount of health. We have a certain amount of energy.”
When assessing our priorities, consider how well you are stewarding what God has put in your hands.
What passion or dream has God put in my heart?
God does give us dreams. Usually they’re dreams that are going to give us joy and give Him glory.
“Many women have lost touch with that dream. We’re so overwhelmed with the demands of life that we’ve either forgotten that dreams are even possible or we’ve disqualified ourselves from even ever accomplishing dreams.”
Remember that God is the major dream giver. He’s the one who’s able to bring those dreams and make the impossible happen. What dream or hope has God put on your heart that you might need to resurrect?
What has God asked me to do that I have not yet done?
We all are tempted to procrastinate on certain things. It could be witnessing to a family member or writing a book. What are you sitting on right now because of fear or pride?
“Unless He canceled an assignment, it’s a standing assignment.”
Trust God with the outcome, but take the step of faith and do what He is asking you to do. Running through these four questions is a good way to refocus your time and energy and keep the main priorities where they belong.
