Enough is enough, now is the time! We absolutely, 100%, need to get back to God’s way of handling money. Too many of us are hurting and struggling with money because we’ve shied away from Godly fundamentals.
First and foremost, we need to understand that God owns everything. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it”. This is pretty basic, but extremely important — He owns everything. This is where the issue of stewardship comes into play. Basically, a steward is another name for a manager. We’re here to wisely manage what God has given us.
Secondly, we are called to be givers. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “…for God loves a cheerful giver.” God is the greatest giver of all (John 3:16) and we’re made in His image. So, this should come as no surprise.
God has a tremendous heart for the lost, poor, oppressed, and widowed. Whose job is it to take care of them? Ours! It’s the church’s job. Unfortunately, our churches are filled with people who have great hearts to give, but are crippled and powerless because they’ve lost track of God’s ways of handling money.
Quoting Dave Ramsey, “Hope-less, debt-filled Christians give very little. But hope-filled, debt-free Christians give A LOT.” Let’s get back to these two simple principles and live a life of freedom.
