Parenting is simultaneously awesome, fun, busy, and hard! Unfortunately my brain doesn’t always have the capacity to keep up with the day-to-day tasks and information. That’s why I’m trying some new ways to use gadgets (which can often just be a distraction) to assist in my daily dad duties.

Here are a few apps I’m trying out to help keep the family track:

BreadVaultBreadVault (A Fargo-based company) “With an emphasis on kids, the free website and free iPhone/iPad app provide tools for your family members to save money to spend wisely”. I’m trying to teach my two older boys patience, and the reward of saving up their own money to spend.

iAllowanceiAllowance “Put piggy banks and paper money behind you! iAllowance is the only thing you need to manage your child’s finances”. We’ve used this to keep track of the kids’ Christmas/birthday money, and deposit the checks and crumpled $1 dollar bills at the bank before they get lost!

ChoreMonsterChoreMonster “What if your kids begged to do their chores? With ChoreMonster it’s possible. ChoreMonster is a suite of web and mobile apps that help make chores fun for kids”. I haven’t used this one much, but I love the idea of turning chores into a game with some fun family rewards!

What are other ways you’ve used gadgets/tech to help you be a more effective parent?
