I’m reading Anne of Green Gables with my daughters.

In one scene, Anne’s adoptive mother, Marilla, exclaims to the precocious youngster:

If you’ll be a good girl you’ll always be happy, Anne. And you should never find it hard to say your prayers.

Anne simply follows up by stating:

Saying one’s prayers isn’t exactly the same thing as praying.

What do you do to move your prayer life beyond “Saying your prayers” to actually praying?
