A new program is allowing those 55 and older the opportunity to bring a calming influence to new babies. Truman Medical Center is looking for 50 volunteers to hold and soothe babies in their NICU when their parents can’t. Some babies have to stay in the NICU for a long time and the physical contact and warmth sometimes means a quicker recovery.

My husband and I would love to serve in this way, but are younger than 55. Is this something we could still do? I’m 44 and he’s 53.

I am so excited to hear of this program. I am 65 years old and I would love to be considered for this. I have 3 grown children and 9 grandchildren.
